Live Your Truth Zine

This project reflects one of the biggest challenges as a young adult: growing out of the person you were expected to be and growing into the person you want to become. There has been a growing expectation that young adults should know exactly who they are and what they want to do coming into college. In reality, it's precisely the time for growth and exploration. 

The focus of this project was to recognize the darkness that can come from this necessary rite of passage. It explores the cognitive dissonance and warped self-image for those experiencing the freedom of choice for the first time. It encourages patience and compassion as the sense of self shifts and molds into ultimately, someone to be proud of.

The following mood boards guided my design process and provided inspiration for my layouts and organization. 
I also came up with a few alternative topics all within the field of psychology. Most are still related to pressures young adults face like FOMO and conformity. Issues like PTSD have been largely unaddressed but have become more relevant post-pandemic with this shared trauma.
